MARKS OF BEING
Logographic System
Marks of being is a logographic system developed during "Logographic Systems: An Exploration of the Script," a five-day workshop focused on graphic explorations around script, symbol, structure, and visual language. Inspired by the iconography of the Bwa tribe, each symbol reimagines and reworks recurring motifs, transforming the zigzag (the path toward truth), the "X" (faith and human exchange), the checkerboard (light against darkness), and ceremonial leaf forms into a new visual language. The tension between positive and negative space structures every mark, while organic, imperfect lines echo the handmade techniques of the Bwa tradition.
